Icelandic Wool Week will be the 27th of September to the 3rd of October 2026!
Icelandic Wool Week takes place every other year, with the next event scheduled from the 27th of September to the 3rd of October 2026.
It is a celebration of Icelandic sheep, wool and handcrafts, largely organised by local volunteers and offers a truly authentic Icelandic experience!
Sign up to our newsletter and you will be notified as the information becomes available!
Wool Week 2026 will have a similar programme as in 2024 (see here) with open events such as sheep shearing, knitting cafés, exhibitions, talks and lectures. A variety of classes and workshops will include all things wool, including knitting, design, spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing wool and more.
Our off-venue event takes place in the South of Iceland: from the town Selfoss and to the rural areas east around Hella.
Highlights range from a sheep show on a farm to a celebratory dinner at a local hotel. Venues include community centres, wool shops, farms, and crafter´s studios.
Some events will be held in Icelandic, but many will be in English or bilingual.
Independent transportation is needed or you could join the expertly guided tour by our local guide Petra: www.klettholt.is
