This two part class offers an immersive experience in processing Icelandic sheep fleece, a unique dual-coated fiber known for its versatility and ancient heritage. Students will learn to navigate the distinct properties of the soft undercoat (thel) and the long, protective outer coat (tog) to create both woolen, semi, and worsted-style yarns. We will work towards bridging the gap between traditional craft (comfortable default spinning) to technical spinning that makes sense and is still fun.

What students need to bring: Spinning wheel in good working order and all its parts, lazy kate with at least 3 bobbins, wool hand cards if you already own them, single pitch combs if you already own them, scissors, niddy noddy, tape measure, and notebook and pen

Preparation for workshop: Beginning spinner and beyond. The student should be comfortable spinning and plying, not to perfection, only the basics.
