In the course, students learn the fundamentals of plant dyeing from beginning to end. Plant dyeing is taught based on Icelandic dyeing traditions, and the history of dyeing in Iceland is covered from the time of settlement. After a coffee break, the course explores how to modify colors using chemistry. Students work together in small groups and are responsible for their own dye pots from start to finish. The course is as hands-on as possible, but also includes a significant amount of lectures and discussion.

What students need to bring: Comfortable shoes, clothes that can get dirty and good mood.
