The inspiration for the Wool Week hat comes from the book Ornaments and Patterns found in Iceland. The pattern was found in a old pattern book and dates back to circa 1860. It is unusual in that it has minimalistic and modern lines making it ideal for adaption to knitting. The hat is knitted with a 100% Icelandic lambswool fingering yarn called Dís that is produced by Uppspuni Mini Mill. The yarn is worsted spun and is available in many natural colors as well as dyed offering the knitter endless possibilities of color combinations and personal design choices. The yarn has a pearly shine and blooms beautifully when washed, making the colors and knitted fabric pop. A true knitting pleasure.
