Spinning sisters
Spunasystur is a group of 20 women in Rangárvallasýsla who have met twice a month since 2013 to spin and process Icelandic wool. Most of them own and breed sheep with the aim of producing the best possible raw materials for wool processing. Spinning sisters have for example held exhibitions and were guests of honor at the Eyjarfjarðarsveit Handicraft Festival 2018.
The goals of Spinning sisters are:
1 - Expand knowledge of the possibilities that Icelandic wool offers in terms of various crafts.
2 -Show that it is possible to create more value from the wool that is produced in the countryside and utilize it in a more diverse way than has been done before.
3 - Preserve old crafts and no less to develop more modern methods.
