“Fearless Spinning”: a comprehensive approach developed to help the spinner organize a variety of new and potentially intimidating fibers and add-ins, in order to spin away with innovation, confidence, and delight! Learn new techniques, such as lockspinning and tailspinning, adding in materials (long lock fibers, beehives, beads, feathers…), and “Throwing Chunks”- a method of spinning large.
“Carding Artsy Batts“: a large variety of materials will be available to make all kinds of batts and to explore your creativity. Learn to use a drum carder for textured and even crazy art batts.
Dyed and natural fleece, variety of roving, long locks, silk/sparkle/add-in’s, plying yarns are included in the class fee.
If you have it bring a spinning wheel which can accommodate bulky yarns/jumbo flyers, if not we will work with the wheel you have. Students are encouraged to bring their own fleece and fun plying yarn as well, for sharing and/or personal use. Drum carders are welcome!
After the 3 hours of tuition you are welcome to continue working in the open workshop in Skinnhufa. Bring your own lunch; coffee and cake provided.
Basic spinning skill required, no carding skill necessary.
